Meet The Maker and How Spirit Rock Studios Began
Steve McCrory – owner, designer, photographer, and sole creative force behind Spirit Rock Studios. Each creation is a direct reflection of Steve’s memories, artistic background, and deep connection to the earth. My passion for minerals and jewelry began in Cerrillos, New Mexico—site of the oldest turquoise claims in North America—where I spent my youth digging and discovering alongside my stepfather. Over those years, I learned to value not just the stone, but its story and energy.
In 1996, with the arrival of my first daughter, I committed fully to crafting wearable art. I dedicated the next four years to mastering lapidary and metalsmithing, showcasing my pieces at art shows across New Mexico, Arizona, and Colorado.
Since relocating to Massachusetts in 2000, I have continued creating unique gemstone-and-sterling-silver pieces, drawing inspiration from textures, color contrasts, and the intuitive harmony between metal and stone.
